Stormy Kromer began in 1903 as an in-home operation. After 16 years of high demand for George and Ida’s popular windproof six-panel cap, the couple opened their first factory in 1919. Since then, the company has grown exponentially, expanding their catalog along the way. The Stormy Kromer Bergland hat offers throwback nostalgia but with a modern spin. Equipped with a long, sherpa-lined adjustable earband that snaps up & down and is fashioned with antique brass naps, this sturdy fitted cap is constructed out of wool, nylon, and polyester sherpa. Fashioned with two-panel crown construction and lined with 100% cotton flannel.

Stormy Kromer is based in Ironwood, Michigan and headed by the Jacquart family — Bob and Denise, and daughters Gina and KJ. We have strong roots in Ironwood. In fact, several of our ancestors were among the pioneers who settled the town. We’ve opened and grown businesses here since the early 1900s. We guess you can say it’s in our blood.

Manufacturing

When you pop a Stormy Kromer cap on your head, you’re supporting American workers. Nearly all of our manufacturing is done in the USA. Those few items that aren’t created here are made by carefully chosen partners who share our high standards for quality and ethics.

Quality starts with materials and people. We search the globe for the most comfortable, durable fabrics and trim materials, and then we put them in the hands of our talented, capable craftspeople here in Michigan. From designers to cutters to sewing machine operators, our team is meticulous and experienced.
